I'm seriously missing blogging but having so much fun in San Diego this weekend! Time with family has been plentiful and it's not over yet. Catching up with old friends has also been refreshing and much needed. Tomorrow there will be more of both, plus a baby shower and birthday party. I can barely keep up! Can't wait to get back to normal blogging but it's good to take a break sometimes, right? I've also had some new ideas for the blog and made a couple of goals I'm anxious to get cracking at. In the meantime I am going to continue enjoying my time off and time in the lovely and ever perfect San Diego-my true home and Mecca (aside from Anthropologie if course).
Until time permits, I bid you adieu. Please don't forget about me...I promise to be back in time for next week's Fresh Cuts.
Wish me luck on my last day of being a 24 year old! I'm officially about to enter my mid-twenties. Quarter life crisis and all :)

Fresh Cuts: I Want it ALL
This post has absolutely nothing to do with Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving with all my heart, as I previously mentioned, but I have yet to decide what "Thanksgiving" type of post to write. Who knows, maybe I will forgo writing about it all together. That's kind of my style...going against the grain sometimes :)
Anyways, I think I figured out what took Anthropologie soooo long to update their "Fresh Cuts" page. And by "sooo long" I mean like, 2 days (or for all I know it was actually updated yesterday. I didn't have a lot of screen time yesterday). I happened to glance at their site today just in case anything struck my fancy, and lo and behold their Fresh Cuts are POPPIN today. Journals, books, accessories, home goods, and even kids' clothes! Maybe they were holding out until closer to Black Friday? Either way, I am currently wishing I had oodles of moolah to dress my sweet (& feisty) nieces, but for now I will settle on just being thankful for having them :)
Here is a little taste of what to expect from the Fresh Cuts page. But seriously, like I tell you every week...you need to go see for yourself!
How I would like to dress myself:

Seriously, there is too much stuff to pass up today. So GOOOOO.

Napkin Throw Pillow (DIY)
For a girl who loves Anthropologie, I sure can't afford to buy much of it! Instead of walking right through the front door and picking up the first thing I see that I love to try on, I'm the girl who walks in with blinders that direct me straight to the sale rack. Then, once I get there, I scour the racks, focusing my time not on the clothing items but instead on the price tags. I know what I can afford, so I only pick up items in that range. Eventually I make it to a fitting room, then it's time to see if I like anything.
You'd be surprised what items you'll want to leave with that you never would have thought to try on. I think this system all started for me back when my roommate and I would make each other try on the ugliest thing we could find for the other person. To my surprise, those were the items I started taking home with me.
Since I can't afford a majority of the store, I started finding little things here and there that were affordable to add a little Anthro love to my life. For example, a few weeks back, as I sifted through the "Home" sale section I found simple cloth napkins in a fun, bright pattern. Cost? $3.95. About the price of a latte but something that would last me a little longer. I bought two napkins in slightly different patterns with the intent to use them for something beyond their original purpose. This is often how I look at their sale items.
What would these napkins become? Well, a pillow of course!

What you need:
- 2 square shaped cloth napkins
- sharp scissors
- thread
- sewing machine and/or needle (I hand sewed mine)
- buttons only if you want to add something fun at the end (I decided not to)
1. Put fabrics together, right sides together so
you see the backsides of both napkins.
2. Safety pins edges together on three sides.
3. Beginning at edge of opening, sew all three sides together
with sewing machine or hand stitch. Remove safety pins as you go.
4. Insert pillow (I used one already covered).
5. Fold edges in toward pillow and pin together.
Sides should be even and not bunched anywhere.
Pull from ends (corners) to make sure everything is even.
6. Make sure to tuck all corners in.
7. Begin at one corner of pillow and sew final seam.
Get as close to the edge as possible (you may want to do by hand)
so the seem is not immediately noticeable.
8. Continue stitching until entire side is sewn shut.
9. Add buttons around edges if you want to
add a final touch of detail. I chose to keep mine simple.

If you don't have anything nice to say....
You know that saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all"? Well, I think I took the phrase to a new level this past weekend. I've been quite a grump lately and although I'm not sure if others noticed or not, I figured I would save them my bad attitude and hibernate for the weekend. I made sure to be present at the things I was expected to be at, but beyond that I was pretty checked out from reality. Humanity-you can thank me later.
I also hibernated a bit from blogging. I kept up with the usual blogs I follow like this one, this one, and this one, but stayed clear from my own. Like I said, I've been a bit of a grump lately and didn't really have anything nice to say. I took this weekend as my opportunity to have a pit of a pity party, an introvert party, and a "it's time to move on party." Overall it was a good weekend, one I think everyone needs to have sometimes.
Because I didn't share anything with you this weekend, the next few pictures will give you some insight into how I spent my time. Don't get too excited. Unless you were also having a pity party and totally checked out from reality, or if by chance you are my secret stalker, then you will probably be bored to death by the following photos. Don't say I didn't warn you.
And to get back to reality...Thansgiving with friends! Starting last year a group of friends and I have planned and celebrated Thansgiving together (i.e. Thanksgiving). Mondays are typically a dreadful day for most of humanity, but today I had something to look forward to. After secluding myself from the world it was good to be back with friends laughing, eating, mocking each other, and just being. I finally feel human again. You're welcome humanity.
Side Note:
Can I just say, the beauty of "The Anthropology of a Girl" is that in reality I can blog about whatever I want because by default, anything I write about and anything that happens in my life, has something to do with being a girl. If "anthropology" is the study of something, then every photo I post, word I write, or story I tell reveals just a little more about what it means to be a girl. Part of me wishes every post I write was strategic, calculated, organized, and full of purpose, but that's just not my life right now. THIS is my life. THIS is what it means to be a girl.

Today (some ramblings)
If you remember last weekend, if you've been following that long, then you'll remember my "to do" list:
My niece and I brainstormed the list together, then began executing it early last Saturday morning with the approval of her sisters. Although we made a good dent in the list, we unfortunately didn't finish it before I took the girls to work with me. However, the hours we spent running around town, in an out of their van, in and out of the bathroom and then back home again, were totally worth it.
Good list Miss Rose, good list.
Yesterday was my first day of in two weeks--three weeks if I consider that the last day off I had was spent crashed on the couch with an immobilizing cold. The day was spent cleaning in the morning, baking with friends in the afternoon, then followed up with a catnap and a workout that I forced into the day. It was a good day, but I was still exhausted from the last two weeks and ready for a day with absolutely NO AGENDA.
Today is that day. It's 10:30am and I've produced nothing more than a bowl of oatmeal and a cup of coffee. I'm taking pointers from Miss Rose and making myself a list, but not any kind of list...this kind of list:
It's rainy today, therefore a perfect day to stay cozy at home doing everything I want to do, or absolutely nothing at all. I talk a lot about trying to embrace my days as they come, wanting to capture each moment and be content with where I am, so today is a great day to work on that. It's incredibly easy for me to always look ahead, planning my future one day,one destination, one goal at a time thirteen destinations, thirteen goals at a time. It's so easy I'd call myself a professional.
When I say it's "easy for me to look ahead" what I am really saying is that I am really bad at being and living in the moment. If you're looking for a way to quickly exhaust yourself, then start thinking about the future as you fight through today.
The thing is though, I don't want to live like this. I want, desperately, to enjoy today without having expectations of the future. After all, if I can't enjoy today and embrace all that it is, how can I expect myself to enjoy the future? Today will not be perfect, and the future most definitely won't be either. It's too easy to look to the future as the solution for today, but tomorrow will have it's own worries. Worrying about today AND tomorrow does nothing better than give me a stomach ache and pangs of anxiety--so why do I choose to live like that? It's an exhausting way to live, and I have no one to blame but myself.
I can't change the past and I don't know what the future will hold. All I have is today, and I'm choosing to embrace it for all it's worth. In order to do that I am going to start working on that list above...I'd say that's a pretty good way to go...wouldn't you agree?
How will YOU embrace today?
P.S. Thanks B for the reading material!

Fresh Cuts: Chairs
I'm struggling a bit here-not for lack of creativity, just a lack of time.
Today is was an early start day for me and somehow I managed to make it an even earlier start by offering to take kids to school. Ya about that...
There are honestly SO many things I want to show you from the Fresh Cuts Page, but there simply isn't enough time for me to link you to all 55 items. So instead I will show you some of the goods I am absolutely swooning over this morning evening (and by swoon I mean drool, and by drool I mean, cantlivewithoutwishihadmoremoneytospendonthingsidontneed).
It's not as common to find homegoods on the Fresh Cuts page, but today Anthropologie stepped up their game and gave us a little variety. For the sake of keeping things "fresh", here is a variety of chairs they currently have posted that I would give my right leg for. No pun intended.

Now please, click here to see all the other amazing things on the Fresh Cuts page! There is simply too much goodness you don't want to miss. So much so that I may need to do Fresh Cuts #2 this week :)
